What is gastonia dinosaur?

Gastonia is a genus of herbivorous ankylosaur dinosaur that lived during the Early Cretaceous period, around 125 to 100 million years ago. It was discovered in 1988 in Utah, United States, and was named after the town of Gastonia.

Gastonia was a heavily-armored dinosaur, covered in bony plates called osteoderms and spikes for protection. It also had a tail club that it likely used for defense against predators.

This dinosaur was about 16 feet long and weighed around 1 ton. It walked on four legs, had a wide body, and a relatively small head with leaf-shaped teeth for eating plants.

Gastonia is considered one of the best-preserved ankylosaur dinosaurs known to science, with almost complete skeleton remains. It is an important species for understanding the evolution of armored dinosaurs and their adaptations for defense.
